Zambia: Chikaya Community Radio Station Gets Transmitter

Chikaya community radio station in Zambia now owns a transmitter and on-air studio equipment, thanks to a donation from the African Broadcast Alliance (ABA) and their partner, the Washington DC-based Educational Development Center Inc (EDC). The 50-watts transmitter and a five line mixer were donated to the radio station as part of efforts to strengthen the running of the Taonga Market interactive radio program. Chikaya is one of the local radio stations that run the program.

Radio Chikaya will as part of a project being conducted by AMARC Africa and the World Bank receive broadcasting equipment in the following months.

The radio station, which had been off air after its transmitter was struck by lightening, was back on air on February 20th.
